Bequests and Trusts

Estacada Community Foundation invites you to create a legacy for future generations by including the ECF in your will or trust. Bequests and other estate gifts have helped the Foundation reach its current position as one of the area’s most valuable assets, and they continue to play a significant role in building its future.

You can decide how you wish your estate gift to be used by the ECF, so that your gift can support the areas that most reflect your interests. Ways to Support Estacada Community Foundation (ECF) through Your Plans
Estacada Community Foundation (ECF) offers many ways for you to provide support through your estate planning. You and your advisors can decide which option best fits with your personal, financial and philanthropic goals.
Bequests and Estate Gifts are made after death, allowing you to retain control and use of your assets during your life.

  • You can make an Estate Gift by naming Estacada Community Foundation in your living trust or by including a Bequest for Estacada Community Foundation in your will. Your gift can be a specific amount or a percentage of your estate. You may also include the Foundation as a contingent beneficiary in the event that other beneficiaries predecease you.
  • You can name Estacada Community Foundation as the beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy. This is especially convenient if you have a paid-up policy that is no longer needed to protect your family.
  • Leaving assets of a Qualified Retirement Plan (such as an IRA, 403B, or 401K plan) to ECF can maximize your gift because the assets are subject to both income and estate taxes when left to individuals – taxes that do not apply if distributed to a charity. You can then leave your family other assets that will not face this heavy taxation. In some cases, it is also possible to give these assets during your lifetime. Of course, taxes may not be involved in your individual situation.  We highly recommend that you speak with a tax expert regarding this issue.

Gifts of Real Estate can benefit you and ECF in a variety of ways.

  • Residential or commercial property can be used to establish a Charitable Remainder Trust that provides income to you or a loved one.
  • A Retained Life Estate enables you to donate your primary or vacation home and receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction while retaining the right to use the home during your lifetime.
  • You may also donate property outright so that you may receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction, or you may donate property as an estate gift through your will or living trust.
